British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak arrived at the Elysée Palace to meet French President Emmanuel Macron, for the first Franco-British summit since 2018. An important summit aimed at mending relations after post-Brexit tensions.

The British Prime Minister and President French "spoke alone for more than an hour". This was announced by Downing Street, as reported by the Guardian. "It was a warm and productive meeting. They discussed the upcoming Six Nations match, after exchanging autographed shirts," adds Sunak's spokesman, "Both agreed on the need for further collaboration on a range of issues, including defence, energy security and illegal immigration."

"The future of Britain and that of France are linked. Our shared challenges. Conservation of our planet, support for Ukraine, cooperation on security and energy: it is together that we progress," French President Emmanuel Macron said during the meeting with Rishi Sunak in a post on Twitter.

Among the topics at the center of the meeting: agreements on migrant crossings, energy security and protection from the threat of Russia. Sunak and Macron announced the summit as an opportunity to restore tense relations across the Channel.
