An 81-year-old man survived for a week stuck in a car by snow eating candy, biscuits and croissants. According to CNN, Jerry Jouret, underestimating the weather, had traveled from his mountain home in Big Pine, California, to return to his family in a small town in Nevada. However, on the way, he accidentally came across a side road and his SUV got stuck in the snow.

Jouret survived the cold temperatures thanks to a small blanket he had in the car and turning on the engine periodically to warm up and try to save gasoline and battery. Despite this, on the third day the car turned off and one of the windows remained half open. When hope seemed lost, the car, almost completely covered by snow, was spotted by a helicopter of the California Highway Patrol. Jouret was transported to hospital but was discharged the same day.
