The consultations on the day did not achieve a breakthrough, but the three parties agreed to hold talks again on this before July this year.

  NATO Secretary-General Stoltenberg convened a tripartite meeting at NATO headquarters on the 9th.

Stoltenberg said in his speech that Sweden and Finland have taken unprecedented measures to accommodate Turkey's legitimate security concerns.

Now is the time for all allies to complete the ratification process and welcome Sweden and Finland to full membership ahead of this year's NATO summit.

  Representatives from the three parties discussed concrete steps to implement the memorandum reached last year, according to a NATO statement issued after the talks.

The three countries welcomed the progress that had been made and agreed to meet again in the same format ahead of the NATO summit in July this year.

  Sweden and Finland will apply to join NATO in May 2022.

In June of the same year, Turkey, Sweden, and Finland signed a memorandum, confirming that Turkey agreed to support Sweden and Finland in joining NATO. Sweden and Finland would not support the PKK, the Syrian Kurdish armed "People's Protection Forces" and the "Gulen Movement" and agreed to dissolve the NATO alliance.   According to the regulations, NATO must have the "unanimous consent" of the 30 member states before it can admit new members.

Currently, Turkey and Hungary have not officially ratified Sweden and Finland to join NATO.
