Several U.S. Senators Propose Ban on Uranium Imports from Russia

A columnist for the French edition of AgoraVox, Patrice Bravov, noted in January that the imposition of sanctions against the Russian nuclear industry would turn into a boomerang for the West.

Last May, Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm noted that the US Department of Energy had created a team to develop a uranium strategy that would help find ways to stop buying uranium from Russia.

At the same time, researchers at the Center for Global Energy Policy at Columbia University Matt Bowen and Paul Dabbar warned that the cessation of the supply of enriched uranium from Russia to the United States could lead to negative consequences for reactors at American nuclear power plants.
