A contract signing ceremony was held between the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Ukrainian government, which will act as the point of contact on the Japanese side for grant aid of more than 22.4 billion yen for the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine decided by the Japanese government.

The signing ceremony was held online on the 9th, and the contract was signed by Junichi Yamada, Vice President of JICA and Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction and Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Kubrakov.



The Japanese government has decided to provide the Ukrainian government with equipment necessary for


▽ countermeasures against landmines and unexploded ordnance,


▽ power facilities and water supply and sewerage facilities destroyed by the Russian attack, and environmental improvement for online education.



The total amount of grant aid provided through JICA is 22.44 billion yen.



Deputy Prime Minister for Reconstruction of Ukraine Kubrakov said, "I sincerely appreciate the important support for improving the lives of the people. I look forward to further cooperation between the two countries."



Vice President Yamada commented, "I believe this is the largest JICA grant aid contract in the history of a single contract. Although the war is still going on, people's lives are still going on. I want to take a step forward," he said.



According to JICA, the provision of equipment to the site is expected to begin around this summer at the earliest.
