China News Agency, Kuala Lumpur, March 10 (Chen Yue Weiyuan) Former Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin was summoned by the country's Anti-Corruption Commission on corruption charges on the 9th.

He could become the second former Malaysian prime minister to be prosecuted for corruption after Najib.

Muhyiddin was arrested when he was arraigned by the Anti-Corruption Commission and was released on bail after the arraignment ended on the evening of the 9th.

Muhyiddin revealed at a press conference held after he was released on bail that the anti-corruption department accused him of alleged bribery and abuse of power during the selective bidding scheme implemented during his administration, and the alleged exchange of political donations accepted by the indigenous solidarity party he led.

He denies the accusations against him and again claims they are selective political charges.

He said it was the ruling party's desire to crack down on its camp ahead of this year's local elections.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar denied the opposition party's accusation of interfering in the judiciary when he attended a parliamentary session on the 9th.

Muhyiddin, 75 years old, is currently the chairman of the opposition coalition-National League and the chairman of the Indigenous Solidarity Party.

After the Pakatan Harapan government stepped down in February 2020, Muhyiddin succeeded Mahathir as Prime Minister of Malaysia from March 2020 to August 2021.
