This Thursday, at the end of the afternoon, an impressive tornado appeared in the Creuse, causing considerable damage in the town of Pontarion.

If no injuries are to be deplored, the inhabitants are stunned by the violence of the meteorological phenomenon, which appeared in “a few seconds” as the deputy mayor testifies, for Europe 1.

This Thursday, a meteorological phenomenon disturbed the calm of the village of Pontarion, in Creuse.

It was shortly before 5 p.m. that a mini-tornado formed in a few seconds, destroying all the material present in its path.

Once calm returned, residents found their downtown ravaged with gutted roofs, uprooted trees and shattered windows.

What to be in shock, state in which is Martine Birnbaum, the deputy mayor of the town who describes the event: "A hurricane, a terrible wind, it was turning in all directions. It's so impressive. I I've never experienced this, ever. You're completely powerless over what's going on."

"It was the apocalypse"

A feeling of powerlessness shared by the locals, like Jeanne.

The latter explains that she barely had time to take shelter.

"All of a sudden, it started to get very windy. There was a very, very dark sky. And then we saw all the bricks of the roof of the castle falling. It was like a whirlwind. And then the trees were falling, we saw huge and huge trees being cut in two."

La Pontarionnaise continues by depicting a chaotic scene.

"In the town, it was the apocalypse, I don't know how to put it. The roof tiles were on the ground, it was littered! We couldn't pass. The cars were stopped and it was very, very scary Everyone was panicked".

Despite the violence of the whirlwind, the municipality of Pontarion considers itself lucky not to deplore any deaths among its inhabitants.
