Parliamentary recommendation to exempt senior citizens and farmers from "electricity" fees

In its report discussed by members of the Federal National Council (FNC) on the government's policy on the sustainability of electricity and water services, the Federal National Council's (FNC) Committee on Electricity and Mineral Resources presented 10 recommendations, including studying the prices of electricity and water connection to new homes, developing monthly bill segments, and exempting senior citizens or retirees in new housing and farmers from electricity and water connection fees, in order to reduce their financial burdens. The Chairman of the Technology, Energy and Mineral Resources Affairs Committee, Mohammed Issa Al-Kashf, stressed the importance of the topic for a large segment of citizens, as he touched on many proactive services for the UAE society, which we rely on the availability of citizens, explaining that the discussions dealt with the rise in electricity prices for farmers, which is an important factor that is based on in the future sustainable environment, as well as in food security, which is one of the country's strategic goals. The recommendations included the development of monthly bill segments for the consumer to reduce financial burdens, and the adoption of practices applied in other entities on the provision of the service of paid amounts, in advance in the balance of the consumer's account, and the use of smart services that expose the consumer to the rate of energy and water consumption periodically, and prevent avoiding the payment of bills of high amounts, through the installation of smart meters.
