<Anchor> As I said
earlier, victims who reject the government's proposal are speaking out,
and the text from the passport is another controversy.

An official close to the president praised the government's solution, and reporter Lee Sung-hoon said.

Seok Dong-hyun, secretary general of the
Consultative Council for Democratic Peace and Reunification, an advisory body to the president, posted on SNS today (7).

"I applaud the president for doing something effective and forward-looking," he said, praising the government's solution, with controversial language popping up everywhere.

Regarding the Supreme Court's ruling in 2012, which first ruled that the individual claims of victims of forced mobilization had not been extinguished by the Japan-Korea Claims Agreement, he dismissed it as "a decision made by a brave justice because of his ignorance as if he were campaigning for independence."

He also wrote, "Let's stop asking Japan for remorse or apology," adding, "What other country among the colonized countries besides Korea is still asking for an apology or compensation?"

Seok's writings, known as President Yoon Seok-yeol's college classmate and friend of 40 years, run counter to the government's stance of lowering its posture and refining its wording in order to comfort the victims.

[Park Jin/Foreign Minister: We deeply sympathize with the pain and suffering that the victims have suffered over a long period of time, and hope that their pain and wounds can be healed as soon as possible....]

The MDP called for his resignation, saying that he had insulted the people.

[Lee Su-jin/MDP spokesperson: Can even a friend of the president's 40 years insult the people of South Korea by covering up the president's diplomatic disaster.]

In a phone call with SBS, Suk said, "This is not for the victims, but for some forces who are trying to have fun using the anti-Japanese frame," adding, "Even if there is a painful history, we need to make a bold decision."
