Ukrainian military sources report that there is no massive withdrawal from Bakhmut and that defenses continue to be held. The situation in Bakhmut is however dramatic, Russian forces are trying, not only to surround the city, but also to make a wide neck to increase the risk of Ukrainian losses during a possible Ukrainian retreat.

Kiev: 171 cases of sexual violence by Russian troops

In Ukraine, 171 cases of sexual violence were recorded during the invasion by Russian troops. Kyiv Independent writes quoting the words of Olena Zelenska at the United for Justice conference in Lviv. According to the Ukrainian first lady, the number of acts of sexual violence by Russian troops in the country indicates that such crimes are a deliberate policy of Moscow's army on Ukrainian territory.

Moscow uses new 1.5-ton bombs against Ukraine for the first time

Russia has reportedly used against Ukraine the new 1500.1-ton UPAB-5B glide bombs, designed to hit highly protected objects up to 40 kilometers, Ukrainian media outlet Defense Express reported. The guided bomb, first presented at a Russian weapons exhibition in 2019, would be delivered to the Russian Air Force. According to its manufacturer, the GNPP Region, the bomb carries a payload of 1,010 kg of high-explosive perforating concrete. According to Defence Express, the bombs were used a few weeks ago in the Chernihiv region, without specifying on which targets. Russia made extensive use of aerial bombs in its invasion of Ukraine, such as the attack on a drama theatre in Mariupol, Donetsk region, on March 16 last year, which killed hundreds of civilians who had taken refuge there.
