Ju-ae, the daughter of North Korean General Secretary Kim Jong Un, who often makes public appearances recently, attended a construction site in Pyongyang and opened her first shovel.

Instead of soldiers, young men were mobilized at the site, and Ahn Jong-sik, a North Korean reporter, pointed out what the intentions were.

<Reporter> On 25 March,

General Secretary Kim Jong-un attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Seopo district in P'yongyang with his daughter Ju-ae.

It is the site of the construction of a large-scale house of 4,100 households, and Joo-ae opened the first shovel with Kim Jong-un.

Unlike other construction sites where soldiers are involved, North Korea has deployed a large number of young people here.

North Korea claims that more than 10,<> young people from all over the country volunteered, and they have actually systematically encouraged participation by holding a massive repatriation event.

Kim Jong-un also made no secret of the conscious mobilization of the youth.

[Kim Jong-un/General Secretary of the Workers' Party of North Korea: We have decided to unveil a new active stage, a grandiose youth board, where our youth can once again exalt their fiery patriotic zeal.]

It may be a backlog of resources, but young people emphasize absolute loyalty.

[Jeong Cheol-hyuk/Paektusan Heroic Youth Assault Team: This characteristic street will become a political struggle. With this faith of our dear Father and Marshal, we will lift the earth as well.]

North Korea has been trying to strengthen its ideological armament for young people who are swayed by external cultures such as the Korean Wave, but this time it seems to mean that it will use its difficult field experience for ideological armament.

[Lee Hyo-jung/Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Unification: We believe that such a large-scale construction project is intended to induce patriotism and loyalty to the North Korean authorities along with control and discipline in the younger generation.]

In addition to this, North Korea is simultaneously pursuing large-scale construction projects such as the Hwaseong District Housing and the Gangdong Greenhouse Farm, and it appears that it will focus on visible construction achievements amid sanctions against North Korea.
