After a long wait, the organizer of the concert of the famous American singing group "Backstreet Boys" in Egypt announced the ticket prices for the event, which is scheduled to be revived in New Cairo on the first of next May.

The prices of concert tickets, which many of the generation of the eighties and late seventies of the last century were waiting for, came between 1050 pounds ($35) and 9 thousand pounds ($293), which are the numbers that “shocked” the Egyptians, especially since its announcement coincided with raising gasoline prices again. , which means an increase in the prices of all commodities and facing a new difficult episode of the worsening economic crisis in the country.

Despite prior expectations regarding ticket prices, some of them still hoped to go and watch the band they loved and identify with their songs at an early age, in an event that may not be repeated in their lives twice, before the dream was shattered on the rock of the economic crisis.

However, as soon as the prices were announced, all tickets in the categories of 9,000, 8,000 and 5,500 Egyptian pounds were sold out, which seemed like a black comedy, as if the crisis had only worsened the middle class, while the upper class maintained its welfare.

A youthful band and an old audience

In the memory of Backstreet Boys fans, the band's heroes appear as a group of young men singing and dancing to songs of a special kind that coincided with their adolescence and early youth.

But now, when the youngest member of the group is 43 years old, the group and its fans are no longer young.

Therefore, during the period following the band's announcement of its intention to hold a public concert in Egypt - as part of its world tour called "DNA" (DNA), which includes countries in Africa and Asia - the pioneers of the Egyptian communication platforms began to circulate comic posts mocking themselves and their performance. The future of the party, all of them in their late 30's to late 40's, so there will be many among them who do not have youthful energy and are unable to stand for hours without tiring.

Between nostalgia and bad luck

Away from these comments, the majority of the band's Egyptian audience was sure that all tickets had run out, no matter how expensive they were, for nothing but that the organizers played on the weapon of nostalgia and nostalgia, the only remaining weakness in this generation whose revolution failed and whose dreams and aspirations collapsed in the face of successive crises.

These are the ones who seek to pick up crumbs of happiness from the past, not the present or the future.
