North Korean Foreign Ministry urges UN to demand termination of joint US-South Korea exercises

“The UN and the international community will need to strongly urge the US and South Korea to immediately stop their provocative statements,” said Kim Sung-kyung.

According to him, the United States and South Korea, by their actions, "extremely tense the situation" on the Korean Peninsula.

The North Korean diplomat added that Washington and Seoul are irresponsibly raising the level of confrontation.

Earlier, a US nuclear submarine arrived in South Korea for a visit.

It was also reported that South Korea and the United States will hold joint exercises from March 13 to 23.

Last week, the DPRK Foreign Ministry said that the continuation of US provocations could be regarded as a declaration of war.
