- We have full respect for their decision to resign, says Mattias Jonsson (S), chairman of the Gothenburg party district to SVT.

According to Jonsson, the jurors were called to a meeting to get support in the aftermath of the well-known sniping case.

The meeting resulted in both of them requesting to resign from their positions in the Court of Appeal for Western Sweden.

First to tell about the meeting was Dagens Nyheter.

Can this not be perceived as political influence on the court from the party?

- We have not pressured the committee members to resign, says Jonsson (S), but he does not want to state exactly what was said in the conversations with the committee members for privacy reasons.

SVT Nyheter has contacted the committee members on Friday for a comment.
