In the case of an apartment fire in the Frankfurt district of Heddernheim, a man died on Thursday evening. The fire brigade had been alerted at 19:35 p.m. When the emergency services arrived, an apartment on the fourth floor of a six-storey apartment building in Antoniusstraße was already on fire. Four squads extinguished the fire within about 30 minutes. A bedridden man had been found lifeless in the apartment where the fire had broken out, according to a fire brigade spokesman.
15 to 20 residents had been brought to safety. There had been no serious injury, one person had suffered a slight smoke poisoning. The police and fire brigade estimate the damage at around 150,000 euros. The investigation of the cause of the fire is still ongoing.
