The Armed Forces of Ukraine may refuse to deploy part of Western weapons because of their high cost and fear of immediately losing them in battle. This assumption was made by Matthew Powell, lecturer in the Department of Strategic and Air Force Studies at the University of Portsmouth, in an article for The Conversation.
“Some equipment, sometimes worth millions or even billions of pounds, may not be deployed at all,” the observer suggested.
Powell explained this by the fact that the Ukrainian army does not have reserves to replace the destroyed weapons.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are currently facing a shortage of artillery, ammunition, military aircraft and tanks.
