Under the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and Honorary President of the Emirates Red Crescent "Mother of the Nation", the Syrian girl "Sham" and her brother "Omar" arrived in Abu Dhabi to receive the necessary treatment, as part of Her Highness's interest in providing treatment and health care for the critically injured who were affected by the devastating earthquake in Syria and Turkey.

Based on the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, which requires speedy action, the Emirates Red Crescent, in cooperation with Burjeel Hospital, formed a specialized medical team for Sham and her brother and provided them with urgent treatment at Burjeel Medical City, where they cooperated to prepare a private medical plane that transported Sham (9 years old) and Omar (15 years old) to Abu Dhabi.

The children were received by Minister of State Dr. Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Secretary General of the Emirates Red Crescent Hamoud Al Junaibi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Development Affairs Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, and Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of VPS Healthcare Group in the UAE, Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil.

After the arrival of the two children at Burjeel Hospital, the necessary surgeries were performed under the leadership of Dr. Michiroglu, where the life of the child "Sham" was threatened with death as a result of gangrene that spread in the lower part of the body, as well as her brother "Omar" was rescued.

Dr. Davutoglu stressed that the medical team did its utmost to preserve their lives and that the condition of the child "Sham" required special surgical procedures due to her poor condition, and her arrival at critical stages that required rapid therapeutic intervention.

The Secretary-General of the Emirates Red Crescent, Hamoud Al Junaibi, stressed the importance of cooperation between the Emirates Red Crescent and health institutions such as Burjeel Hospital, especially in such circumstances that require saving people's lives and providing them with the necessary treatment, reflecting the directions of the wise leadership in humanitarian work derived from the values and culture of the UAE, which crystallizes humanitarian work in the highest forms of humanity.

Dr. Shamsheer, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of VPS Healthcare Group in the UAE, praised the contribution of the Red Crescent and the great humanitarian role provided by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak and the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan to those affected by the earthquake in Syria and Turkey, and the provision of all necessary assistance, support and provision of treatment and medical care in addition to the necessary humanitarian assistance in such critical circumstances that the Turkish and Syrian peoples are going through. Burjeel Hospital is putting all its resources to save injured children and wounded.

For his part, Bashar Aliq, a member of the "Sham" family, who accompanied her to Abu Dhabi, praised this generous gesture, saying: We are grateful to the leadership of the UAE, and Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, "Mother of the Nation" for this noble work they have done for Sham and Omar, as doctors in Istanbul told us that Sham needs to perform amputations representing one hundred percent of the size of the leg because of the injuries they suffered, and because she did not receive the necessary treatment in time, but her father refused We were very happy afterwards when we decided to fly to the UAE by private jet with specialized medical staff, which made us feel that we were in safe hands and that our condition would be much better than it is.
