Each year at the Salon de l'Agriculture, the jurors award their medals during the general competitions.

Valuable rewards for producers who, thanks to economic upgrading, can see their lives change overnight.

Europe 1 met professionals concerned at the 59th edition of the show.

This is the highlight of the Salon de l'Agriculture.

Each year, 8,000 jurors award the famous gold, silver and bronze medals in 19 categories during the finals of the general agricultural competition.

For farmers, it is a symbolic recognition of the work done throughout the year, but also an economic enhancement that can change their lives overnight.

This could be the case of Carole Bonzon, all smiles behind her charcuterie stand.

Thanks to the flavors of her country pâté and her head cheese, the producer from the Pyrénées-Orientales has just won her first three silver medals.

For her, it is a consecration.

"It's a great pride, it's the work of a whole team so we're super happy!", She savors at the microphone of Europe 1.

Companies looking for award-winning regional products

Carole Bonzon admits that she "really hoped for these medals".

"It's a national competition. We know there are a lot of competitors, so we're all the more proud," she adds.

A pride also compiled with the assurance of selling more products.

Medalists can increase their turnover by 40% in the first year.

Brewer in the Poitevin marshes, Nicolas Suire can attest to this: this is his tenth award.

And in front of his counter, it's a crowd.

“Since we had medals, we have seen people come to the stand to find out which beers had won medals and to taste them”, he explains to Europe 1, “and companies, regional product shops , especially ask for these products. As a result, they take the whole range, so it feels good. It's gratifying", he confesses.
