On June 14 last year, 21-year-old Anwar Kaddah was stabbed to death during a fight.

The incident occurred on a cross street to Möllevångstorget in Malmö and was caught on a surveillance camera and by a witness filming with his mobile phone.

Anwar's friend suffered life-threatening injuries and sought shelter inside a restaurant.

Anwar was taken by ambulance to hospital but his life could not be saved.

A 17-year-old was sentenced to three years of closed youth care in the district court for the murder of Anwar.

A 22-year-old, with connections to serious crime, was acquitted of the murder charges but was convicted of two counts of assault and serious illegal driving.

The penalty was four months in prison.

"It is unfair"

The judgment in the district court has been appealed to the Court of Appeal by both prosecutors and lawyers.

Anwar's mother believes that the 17-year-old should receive a long prison sentence.

- Three years in a youth home, it's unfair, says Ahod Al-Tamimi, Anwar's mother.

She is still in deep grief and has trouble sleeping at night.

Every night she wakes up wondering if maybe Anwar is home.

Then she gets up and looks at his bed.

But it is still empty.

- I hope that it is just a nightmare that he will come back, but Anwar will not come back, says Ahod Al-Tamimi and breaks down in tears.

Did not distribute the chop

SVT Nyheter Skåne has contacted the 17-year-old's lawyer for a comment.

The 22-year-old's lawyer believes that the district court made a correct assessment when they acquitted her client.

- It was caught on camera.

You can see that it is the other perpetrator who inflicts the stabbing, says Sanna Herlin, lawyer.

The judgment in the Court of Appeal will be announced on March 16.
