The Syrian girl (Sham - nine years), and her brother (Omar - 15 years), who spent 46 hours under the rubble as a result of the devastating earthquake that struck their country, began the first steps of their treatment in the UAE, by performing two surgeries to confront «mashing the limbs», as a result of the interruption of blood from their legs for four consecutive days, within the framework of the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and Honorary President of the Emirates Red Crescent Authority (Mother of the Nation). Treating a number of earthquake victims in Syria, including children, in state hospitals, and Her Highness covered the expenses of their treatment and all the obligations resulting from that.

In detail, Burjeel Medical City received the day before yesterday, the two Syrian brothers, (Omar and Sham), after they were transferred to the country, where the Emirates Red Crescent, in cooperation with Burjeel Hospital, prepared a private medical plane that transported them from Turkey to Abu Dhabi, and a specialized medical team was formed for (Sham) and her brother, and urgent treatment was provided to them in Burjeel Medical City.

Nasser Saif Al Riyami, Chief Operating Officer at Burjeel Medical City, confirmed the stability of the condition of the Syrian child Sham and her brother Omar, who were received last Wednesday morning, for treatment in Abu Dhabi, as a result of the earthquake in Syria and Turkey. Al Riyami said: "Based on the directives of the leadership, the air operations of the Emirates Red Crescent, in cooperation with Burjeel Holding, began transporting the child (Sham) and her brother via a private plane from the Turkish capital, Istanbul, in a mission that lasted 12 hours, which includes a medical team consisting of doctors and paramedics, and upon their arrival in the country, they were immediately transferred and their families to Burjeel Medical City, located in Mohammed bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi, to receive the necessary treatment and provide all forms of support for them and their families," noting that Sham and her brother suffered from being trapped under rubble in the recent earthquake in Syria for 46 hours, exposing them to limb mashing syndrome due to interrupted blood supply to the legs.

He explained that the child (Sham) and her brother will undergo several surgeries, after which a period of physical and psychological rehabilitation is allocated.

Meanwhile, the accompanying members of the Sham and Omar family confirmed that the UAE's white hands will continue to extend to the world with goodness and giving, expressing their appreciation and thanks to Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, who directed the treatment of a number of earthquake victims in Syria, including children in state hospitals, and Her Highness covered the expenses of their treatment and all the obligations resulting from that. Bashar Aliq, cousin of Sham and Omar, who accompanied them to Abu Dhabi with six other family members, said: "Sham and Omar remained for 46 hours under the rubble, during which they witnessed the death of their mother and sister," noting that the family was living on the ground floor in a six-story building, which collapsed due to the earthquake along with many surrounding buildings, which delayed rescue teams from reaching them, as a result of the accumulation of cement blocks resulting from the collapse of buildings. He added: «When the rescue personnel heard the sounds of their distress, they tried as much as they could to reach them, and the first to come out of the family is their older sister Muntaha, and she was intact, and she told the paramedics that her family is healthy, and that her father and mother are on the other end of the building, and then attempts began to get out (Omar Washam), and it took longer, because of the fall of iron and stone blocks on their legs», noting that their fourth sister died shortly after the collapse of the building, and they thought she had lost consciousness only, while Their mother spoke to them and asked them to help her and their father, after which she died, with injuries to the head and multiple areas of the body. He pointed out that (Sham and Omar) were initially transferred from their village in Syria to Turkey, to get treatment, where doctors in Istanbul decided that (Sham) needs to perform amputations representing 100% of the size of the legs, because of the injuries they suffered, and because she did not receive the necessary treatment in time, but her father strongly refused, and then it was decided for them to travel to the UAE by private plane, carrying a specialized medical staff, which made us feel that we are in safe hands, and that our condition It will be much better than it is, he said: "We are grateful to the leadership of the UAE, and Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak (Mother of the Nation) for this noble work they have done for Sham and Omar."
