The death of regional police chief Mats Löfving has shaken the police.

Sharp criticism has been directed at the way the investigation of him, Linda Staaf and national police chief Anders Thornberg was handled, and a report of work environment violations has been submitted to the special prosecutor's chamber by the former chairman of the Police Association in Östergötland.

When Expressen also reported that the Ministry of Justice wanted to speed up the investigation, a damaged trust in top police management risks spilling over to the government, according to Elisabeth Marmorstein.
