Al-Assad receives FNC delegation headed by Saqr Ghobash

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad received today a delegation from the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, participating in the thirty-fourth meeting of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union, which concluded yesterday in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.

The delegation includes Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council, the Speakers of the House of Representatives in Iraq, Jordan, Palestine, Libya and Egypt, in addition to the heads of the delegations of the Sultanate of Oman and Lebanon, and the Secretary-General of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union.

The delegation of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union affirmed the Union's support and stand with the brotherly Syrian people and continue to provide the necessary capabilities to stand with the Syrian brothers after the earthquake that struck a number of cities and villages in them, and stressed the need for joint Arab action at all levels for Syria's return to its Arab surroundings and the exercise of its role in the Arab, regional and international arenas.

On the other hand, Bashar al-Assad separately received Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council and his accompanying Council delegation in Damascus.

During the meeting, Saqr Ghobash conveyed the greetings of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai.

For his part, Syrian President Saqr Ghobash conveyed his greetings and thanks to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, praising their support and the support of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation "Mother of the Nation", in providing aid and assistance to the Syrian people affected by the devastating earthquake.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Syrian President welcomed Saqr Ghobash and his accompanying delegation, stressing the importance of this visit in strengthening cooperation relations between the two countries, stressing the importance of the role of the parliaments of the two countries in developing cooperation relations between the two countries, stressing the close brotherly relations between the two brotherly countries.

During the meeting, the Syrian President wished the UAE and its people further prosperity, development and prosperity under its wise leadership.

Saqr Ghobash stressed the FNC's keenness to keep pace with the UAE's orientations and vision on various issues, foremost of which is promoting peace, security and stability among the peoples of the region and the world.

Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council, and the accompanying parliamentary delegation participated in a parliamentary dialogue session at the headquarters of the Syrian People's Assembly in solidarity with the families of the earthquake victims.

Saqr Ghobash expressed his sincere condolences and sympathy to the brotherly Syrian people and the families of the victims of the devastating earthquake in Syria, asking God Almighty for mercy for the victims and speedy recovery for the injured.

The Syrian state news agency reported that the delegations met with Syrian parliamentarians and Assad.
Mohammed al-Halbousi, speaker of the Iraqi and Arab parliaments, said that Syria is indispensable and cannot dispense with its Arab surroundings.

"The Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union stressed the need to work at all levels and at all levels to return Syria to its Arab surroundings," he added.
