The subject of the drought affecting the country was invited to the Salon de l'Agriculture. During his visit, Emmanuel Macron called Saturday for "a plan of sobriety on water" on the model of "energy sobriety", evoking "the end of abundance".

"We know that we will be confronted as we were last summer with problems of scarcity [of water]: rather than organizing under duress at the last moment with conflicts of use, we must plan all this," explained the head of state.

He called for "better harvesting of rainwater", "having fewer leaks in water networks" and "better distributing the use of drinking water according to users", in particular by "continuing to produce and invest in hill retentions". "It is necessary that all, we - citizens, industrialists, services, local authorities, farmers - [be] pay attention to this resource that is becoming scarce" and "that we move towards behaviors of sobriety in our practices," urged the President of the Republic.

The France has just experienced a dry period of more than a month, a record in winter. "The France is on alert" and "we are about two months late in filling" groundwater, acknowledged Wednesday Christophe Béchu, the Minister of Ecological Transition.
