A letter recovered by a former protector of the queen

"We finally had time to dive into a big box my mother had given us. It just so happened to belong to my grandfather, Roland Stockdale," the owner of the house explained on the website of the auction house Hanson Auctioneers, which organizes the sale.

He would also have found in his attic an invitation to a ball at Balmoral Castle, a note signed by the queen, several royal menus, as well as a mass notebook in memory of King George VI. The man finally understood, according to his discoveries, that his grandfather, a former policeman, had ensured the protection of the Queen Mother in the 1950s.

The auction house Hanson Auctioneers estimated the letter of the young Charles III between 2,000 and 3,000 pounds (between 2,200 to 3,400 euros). To obtain it, admirers of the royal family will have to be ready on March 7, the day of the auction of these exceptional objects.
