The former great figure of the movement of "yellow vests" Christophe Chalençon has decided to appeal the sentence pronounced against him by the criminal court of Carpentras (Vaucluse), reports Le Dauphiné Libéré. The court handed down its verdict on 8 February. It had sentenced the defendant to eight months in prison.

Christophe Chalençon had also been the subject of a warrant of committal. He had been tried in an immediate appearance following his arrest and detention two days earlier. The blacksmith was accused of having made threats against different personalities.

Among the latter are Emmanuel Macron, Jacques Attali and Olivier Véran, government spokesman and former Minister of Health. Christophe Chalençon had also been convicted for having attacked by videos interposed a journalist of La Provence, insulted and threatened after an article reporting that the prefect of the department had issued several reports concerning the accused.
