The largest edition in the history of IDEX and NAVDEX achieved historic records in participation and deal volumes over the five days of the two exhibitions, which took place from February 20 to 24 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, with 132,507 visitors.

During the closing day of IDEX and NAVDEX 2023, Tawazun Council, a government entity that works closely with the Ministry of Defense, security agencies and Abu Dhabi Police to enhance purchasing value through innovative acquisition and budget management systems, announced the total deals concluded over the five days of the two exhibitions for the Ministry of Defense and Abu Dhabi Police by 56 deals, worth AED 23.34 billion, while the number of deals on the fifth day reached 11 deals worth AED 2.2 billion for the Ministry of Defense.

Major General Staff Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee of IDEX and NAVDEX, said: "The activities of the largest edition in the history of IDEX and NAVDEX 2023 concluded with wide global participation, and the great turnout for the two exhibitions reflects the prestigious position that the UAE enjoys at the regional and international levels, and the advanced level reached by the national defense industries sector, which is managed by the minds and arms of the people of this generous country, and consolidates the position of the capital Abu Dhabi as a destination for minds and decision-makers from all over the world, and a center to innovate and create in these vital sectors."

He added that "this historic achievement and success would not have been achieved without the great support of our wise leadership, to enhance the position and competitiveness of the two exhibitions over the past three decades."

For his part, the Vice Chairman of the Higher Organizing Committee of the two exhibitions, Major General Dr. Mubarak Saeed bin Gafan Al-Jabri, said that the UAE, over the past five days, has been the focus of the world's attention and a destination for experts and specialists in the defense industry.

He pointed out that the current edition of the two exhibitions witnessed an increase in the number of participants, exhibitors and visitors, up to the number of partnerships and the volume of deals announced in this global event.

It also attracted record numbers of leaders and decision-makers, with more than 367 official delegations from around the world.

Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and CEO of ADNEC Group, said: "This year's edition of IDEX and NAVDEX was a success by all standards. "The volume of participation and turnout reinforces IDEX and NAVDEX as the largest events in the global defense industry, which comes in conjunction with our celebration of the 30th anniversary of IDEX in 1993." This year's edition witnessed many features and initiatives that were held for the first time, and contributed to strengthening the position of the world's leading event in the defense industry, as nine new countries participated in the exhibition for the first time: Uzbekistan, Ireland, Nigeria, Montenegro, Kuwait, Lithuania, Bangladesh, in addition to Monaco and Colombia.

Ahmed Al Harmoodi, Chief Executive Officer of Acquisition Management at Tawazun Council, said during the press conference announcing the closing day deals that IDEX and NAVDEX have established the UAE as a global destination for meetings, incentives, conferences and events.

He added that "the Tawazun Council is proud of the confidence placed in it by our wise leadership to manage all technical, contractual, legal and financial aspects of the procurement and programs of the Ministry of Defense, the security agencies and Abu Dhabi Police."

He added: "Over the course of five days, we announced the contracts we signed for the Ministry of Defense and Abu Dhabi Police, where the value of deals increased to more than AED 23 billion, or 12% compared to the previous cycle. Hence, the Tawazun Council affirms its keenness and support to achieve the country's objectives in strengthening our national defense industries and working, side by side, with the Ministry of Defense, the security agencies and Abu Dhabi Police."

The official spokesman of the Tawazun Council, Zayed Al-Muraikhi, said that the local deals concluded for the Ministry of Defense on the closing day amounted to seven deals worth 1.6 billion dirhams, including contracting with AM Industries to purchase armored guard rooms worth 46 million dirhams, contracting with AM Industries to purchase armored guard rooms worth 14 million dirhams, and contracting with Aman Marine Engineering Company to provide technical support services and provide spare parts, maintenance and repair services for ships and boats worth 43 million. For his part, the official spokesman of the Tawazun Council, Majid Al-Jabri, pointed out that the number of international deals concluded for the Ministry of Defense for the closing day amounted to five deals worth 653 million dirhams, including contracting with the French company MBDA to purchase updated simulators worth 198 million dirhams, contracting with the French company EURO - ART INTERNATIONAL to provide technical support services for radars worth 90 million, contracting with the Swedish company SAAB to provide maintenance services for GLOBALEYE 6000 aircraft worth 108 million dirhams, and contracting with the company ROHDE & SCHWRZ to purchase and install communication systems worth AED 59 million, and contract with CETC Interntional to purchase communication systems worth AED 198 million.
