His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, praised in a tweet on his official account on the social networking site «Twitter», the efforts of the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai and its role in providing the best public transport services through various types of transport, bringing the number of public transport passengers last Tuesday to two million passengers on the same day, thus exceeding the daily number of passengers during the past year by an unprecedented high percentage.

His Highness said in the tweet: «2 million users in one day of transportation services in Dubai. Thank you to the Dubai Roads team for their efforts in developing a pioneering model for transport by land, sea, and soon by air with air taxi."

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) told Emirates Today that last Tuesday set a record in the number of users of mass transport and shared mobility in Dubai, reaching two million and 3057,<> passengers, which is the highest number recorded by mass transport in Dubai on normal days except New Year's Day.

The authority said that the number of users of the Dubai Metro on the red and green lines reached 821 thousand and 447 passengers, 571 thousand and 803 passengers for the red line, and 249 thousand and 644 passengers for the green line, while the Dubai Tram transported 26 thousand and 931 passengers, adding that the number of users of public transport buses reached 430 thousand and 739 passengers, and the various means of marine transport transported 48 thousand and 579 passengers, while the number of users of shared transportation means that include electronic reservation vehicles, smart rental and buses on demand reached 151 Two thousand and 442 passengers, while taxis in Dubai, which include (Dubai Taxi and franchise companies) transported 523 thousand and 919 passengers.

The average daily number of users of mass transport, shared mobility and taxis in the first half of last year was about 1.68 million passengers, compared to about 1.1 million passengers in the same period in 2021. It is noteworthy that the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai has begun preparing for the launch of the air taxi service, and announced during the World Government Summit held recently in Dubai the design of the first air taxi station in Dubai, and presented the details of the facilities of the station to be operational in 2026, at a stand of the Roads and Transport Authority in Dubai, which allowed participants in the summit to experience the use of the augmented virtual reality technology.
