A 73-year-old man was sentenced on Tuesday by the Orleans Criminal Court (Loiret) for sexual assault on his minor daughter. The victim was between 7 and 9 years old at the time of the facts, from 2016 to 2018, reports La République du Centre.

It was in 2018 that the girl confided to her mother, who was still in a relationship with the defendant, the rapes she was suffering from him. The mother reported her partner to the police station and an investigation was opened. In the absence of evidence, the facts of rape were reclassified as incestuous sexual assault on a minor.

Withdrawal of parental authority

At the hearing, the now 73-year-old man admitted some facts but denied any penetration, explaining that his prostate cancer made it impossible. A medical report did not corroborate this alleged powerlessness.

The defendant was sentenced to three years in prison, half of which was suspended for two years. He is also sentenced to an obligation of care and a ban on contacting the victim. Parental authority has been definitively withdrawn.
