"The criminal always returns to the crime scene." Zakharova comments on Biden's visit to Kiev

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova says US President Joe Biden decided to make a "bold" visit to Kiev only after Russia guaranteed his safety.

According to Russia's TASS news agency, Zakharova said: "Biden did not dare to go to Kiev without notifying Russia, and without asking the Russian side to maintain its safety and security."

Zakharova added that Biden's visit to Ukraine fully confirms the common fact that "the criminal always returns to the crime scene."

"On February 20, on the eve of the anniversary of the 'Maidan' (protests and civil unrest that began on the night of November 21, 2013 in Ukraine), Biden appeared in Kiev," she noted.

"It's good to remember that forensic scientists and psychologists say similar things: "The criminal always returns to the crime scene," she added.

The Russian Foreign Ministry representative stressed that the absence of the topic of diplomatic settlement of the Ukrainian conflict in President Biden's speeches in Kiev and Warsaw indicates Washington's desire to further escalate with Moscow.

The diplomat noted that Biden's meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart showed "who actually rules Ukraine."

"It is worth noting that the Americans did not even mention the desire for a political settlement to the crisis, all of this testifies to the irresponsible and adventurous intention of the United States to further escalate the confrontation with Russia. This is the criminal White House."
