With our correspondent in Brazzaville,

Denis Sassou Nguesso welcomed his counterpart this Tuesday evening at the bottom of the plane's gangway.

The two statesmen will discuss one-on-one this Wednesday at the presidential palace.

Interviews which, according to pocket sources of the Congolese presidency, must focus on peace and security.

Indeed, in the Sahel, an area of which Niger is a part, the security situation has deteriorated considerably since 2011. It is the consequence of the instability in Libya.

Congo, which heads the African Union's High Level Committee on Libya, presented a report on the situation in that country at the last AU summit.

A Libyan reconciliation conference is to be held soon.

The date and location are yet to be determined.

Niger's diplomatic support for the organization of this conference is requested.

Moreover, Mohamed Bazoum's visit should be marked by the signing of cooperation agreements between Niamey and Brazzaville, which hosts a large Nigerien community, very active in trade.
