Yemen.. Yemeni government moves to rally international support for peace

Yemeni political sources warned of threats by the Houthi terrorist militias to return to the battlefronts and target Yemeni economic interests and international navigation in the Red Sea, after the statements of their leader Abdul Malik al-Houthi.

The sources pointed out that the Houthis' threat to bomb ports in Yemeni government areas reflects the nature of their real orientation away from claims of peace.

This comes as Yemeni diplomacy continued its moves on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference to mobilize European and international support to face the challenges facing the peace process in Yemen, resulting from the intransigence of the Houthi militias rejecting all proposals submitted by the United Nations in this regard.

In this context, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad Al-Alimi, stressed the importance of European-international pressure to bring the Houthi militias to the negotiating table, noting that the Yemeni people "will not tire and will not tire" in order to achieve their aspirations for a comprehensive and just peace, in accordance with the agreed references, especially Resolution 2216.

For his part, Yemeni Foreign Minister Ahmed bin Mubarak called for firm European and international intervention towards the militias to force them to sit at a real negotiating table.

This comes as international efforts continued to implement the "confidence-building" phase, through the discussion with the United Nations Development Program Directorate Hema Khadaka, and the Director of the OCHA Office, Birgit Falti, with the Houthis, the rehabilitation of the ports of Hodeidah on the western coast of Yemen, which are under the control of the militias, in preparation for opening them to receive relief ships.

On the ground, the Houthi militias continued their escalation of fighting, moving from one front to another, after attacking fronts in the Qataber district in Saada, during the past hours they launched large-scale attacks towards the Yemeni army positions in the Al-Yatma front, north of Khub and Al-Shaaf district in Al-Jawf governorate.

According to field sources, the army forces repelled Houthi attacks targeting their positions in the north of the Al-Yatma area, in the Khub and Al-Shaaf district, north of Al-Jawf governorate, and thwarted a Houthi attempt to infiltrate towards the Al-Abtar front, inflicting heavy losses on Houthi elements.

The Houthi attacks north of Al-Jawf come with the movements of government forces on the front lines in the fronts of Ragwan district, northwest of Marib governorate, near Al-Jawf, as well as raising the combat preparations of government forces in the third, seventh and sixth military regions to confront the Houthi threats launched by its leader Abdul Malik Al-Houthi.

The Yemeni army's movements coincided with the lifting of the state of security vigilance in Marib governorate to confront any sabotage and attempted infiltration of Houthi cells towards the liberated areas in Marib, including the oil and gas areas.

In Sana'a, the Sarf area of Bani Hushaish district, north of the capital, Sana'a, witnessed a protest by the people of the area against the backdrop of the continued violations practiced by the Houthi militias against them for months.
