Twitter infection is spreading. Meta Tests Account Verification Service with $11.99 Monthly Subscription

Meta Platforms announced on Sunday that it is testing a monthly subscription service, called Meta Verified, that will allow users to verify their accounts using a government ID and get a blue badge, as part of the company's plans to help content creators grow and increase their following.

The Facebook and Instagram subscription package, which will launch this week, also includes additional impersonation protection starting at $11.99 per month on the website or $14.99 per month on Apple's iOS operating system and Android.

Meta Verified is scheduled to roll out this week in Australia and New Zealand and will continue gradually in other countries later.

The monthly subscription move from Meta follows a similar move from Twitter, which announced last month that Twitter Blue, which includes additional features along with a blue authentication tag, will be available at $11 per month.
