Third deadly settling of accounts in four days in Marseille. A man was shot dead in the night from Friday to Saturday, against a background of drug trafficking, a police source said. According to the newspaper La Provence, the victim was "known to the police for facts related to drug trafficking".

The 28-year-old man was targeted shortly after 1 a.m. in the Capelette district in the south of the city, near the Palais des Sports. Treated by firefighters, he died in hospital as a result of his injuries. The investigation was referred to the judicial police.

Drug trafficking at the centre of settling scores

According to an AFP count, this is the fifth death by settling scores since the beginning of the year, and the third in four days. Thursday, a young man of 20 years, known to the police in particular for drug cases, was shot dead in Micocouliers, a city in the popular neighborhoods of northern Marseille.

On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, a 17-year-old minor, also known for drug trafficking, died of his injuries after being found unconscious wounded with a knife in the Paternelle, another of these cities in the northern districts of the second city of France gangrenous by drug trafficking.
