• Nathalie, 58, and Angie, 29, are the pair of strangers in the 17th season of Beijing Express.
  • Coming from different social backgrounds, the two women seem to have been able to team up, led by the "niaque of surpassing themselves".

"Go ahead, my Nathou, begin!" "Ah, I suspected you were going to put the old woman first... Listening to them bragging and laughing throughout the interview, it looks like they've been friends for several years. And yet, Nathalie, 58, and Angie, 29, would surely never have met if Beijing Express did not exist. The adventure show, back this Thursday evening on M6 for a 17th season in South America, has chosen these two women from different social backgrounds to constitute the duo of unknowns, a team always eagerly awaited by viewers. Will they shine as much as Fabrice and Briac, the iconic duo that everything opposed? In Bolivia, the adventure started in a strange way.

"When I saw her, I couldn't see if it was a man or a woman because I didn't have my glasses," laughs Nathalie, originally from Saint-Nazaire, head of several companies specializing in real estate. I was relieved to see someone strong, I told myself that she had to hold the road physically! It must be said that Angie, mother of a 4-year-old girl, joined the army for several years before becoming a bus and truck driver in the suburbs of Paris. The one who had never traveled, unlike her partner who already knew Chile, Brazil or Peru, had only one wish: "Go for it, eyes closed, and avoid confusion". "When I saw that she was old, I thought, 'Oh yeah, anyway!'" recalls the candidate. But afterwards, I perceived that she was dynamic, that she was not going to drag her feet. »

"Inside from the first test"

Has this "silly of surpassing themselves" that they say they share been enough to put aside their many differences? "There were times when I didn't understand anything she was saying, we don't speak the same language!" laughs Nathalie, mother of two grown children. " The seum", "worships", all that, I have a little trouble myself, but we had a good laugh! Angie was surprised by her partner's dress look, especially at night... "You have to watch the show just for the pink pajamas that Nathou bought especially for the adventure," she says, still laughing. Frankly you see, you're afraid! He is extraordinary! »

Beyond these anecdotes, and without revealing their career, the two women say "got into it from the first test" and consider themselves proud of their experience. "We are in a society of youth, so it's good to show that we can be in shape at my age," says the fifty-year-old, who practices Nordic walking and running but has not prepared further for the show. I did my best, while remaining zen and without breaking the candidate. There are times when I could and times when I couldn't! For the pugnacious Angie, the benefits have also been very personal. "In life, I have a shell, I do not let my loved ones see too much what is happening inside, confides the youngest. In Beijing, there is a side where I open up a little, so they will find out. »
