In the Puy-de-Dôme, drought is worrying. No less than 58 municipalities are experiencing water shortages, because of the significant rainfall deficit and the low level of groundwater, reports France 3 Auvergne Rhône-Alpes.

Households are now even deprived of drinking water. Some residents had to be relocated and others were offered to shower at campsites and given bottled water. A meeting was held on Tuesday to find emergency solutions with the municipalities concerned, the departmental council and the Water Agency.

Temporary solutions

The different territories have decided to show solidarity pending the implementation of sustainable solutions. The impacted municipalities will be able to fetch water from the municipalities that have it. Rotations must be carried out every day via tanker trucks.

"We take the situation seriously," said the sub-prefect of Ambert, an affected commune. The collection of water in the Dore was also mentioned as a possible solution, after diagnosis. But the situation remains worrying while summer is not yet here.
