It was on Tuesday that some students constructed a bomb and detonated it in a locker room as part of a TikTok challenge.

That same evening, a decision was made about a protective shutdown and the school is therefore closed until Tuesday after the sports holiday.

- It has been a bad working environment for our employees for a long time, but the self-made bomb was what made us take the decision, says Helene Olofsson, chief security officer at the school.

How common is it to make a decision like this?

-

I have never had to make such a drastic decision and I wish that no one would have to, she says.

Recurring police reports

Since December, several police reports have been made against students at the school.

Students testify that it has been violent and threatening for a long time.

- They have lit garbage cans on fire and burned books.

You are so used to it now that you hardly react to when the fire alarm goes off, for example, says Lizzié Rietz, who is in ninth grade at Färsingaskolan.

The school's toilets have also been repeatedly vandalised.

- I think we have one or two toilets that are fresh, two toilets for 450 students, says Lizzié.

"I've lost count of how many principals we've had"

The school does not currently have a permanent principal, so at the moment it is the headmaster who is acting principal at the school.

- We have not had a principal who stayed.

I've lost count, but I think we've had four or five principals since I started here, says Lizzié Rietz.

She says that the lack of a permanent principal has created uncertainty among the school's students and has been one of the factors in the situation escalating.

- I hope we can find a principal who actually wants to come here.

We have to find a solution because we are the municipality's only upper secondary school, she says.

SVT Nyheter Skåne has sought the school's acting principal for a comment.
