Matteuzzi murder, life sentence for Giovanni Padovani

Life imprisonment, even with aggravating circumstances, for Giovanni Padovani, the 28-year-old former footballer who on the evening of 23 August 2022, in Bologna, killed his ex-partner, Alessandra Matteuzzi, under the woman's house, in via dell'Arcoveggio, with hammer blows , kicks, punches and with a bench taken from the condominium garden. 

Before dying, Alessandra Matteuzzi had reported him for stalking. The sentence was issued by the Assize Court of Bologna after two hours of deliberation.

The judges accepted the requests made a month ago by the deputy prosecutor Lucia Russo and the deputy Francesca Rago, also recognizing the existence of the four aggravating circumstances alleged against the accused: stalking, premeditation, base and futile motives and emotional bond with the victim. Mayor Matteo Lepore was also present in the courtroom, and before reading the sentence he hugged Stefania Matteuzzi, Alessandra's sister. The reasons will be filed within 30 days.
