The arrest of a young man in his thirties who raped a ninety-year-old woman in a nursing home in Australia
A 34-year-old man has been arrested in Australia and charged with raping a 90-year-old woman at a nursing home in the town of Batu Bay, about 100km north of Sydney.
The Australian Guardian newspaper quoted police as saying that the suspect entered the building of the elderly home in the town famous for holidays, located on the east coast, and attacked the woman there in the early hours of last Wednesday morning.
Jane Doherty, head of the Sexual Crimes Unit, spoke of a "horrible" act and said attacking a helpless old woman in the place where she was safe in this way was unthinkable.
She added that the victim was traumatized and also suffered serious injuries.
She is currently being cared for by the woman's family and medical staff at the hospital.
The suspected attacker was arrested in the nearby town of The Entrance yesterday.
