The Prince of Wales visited a new cancer research and treatment centre, where he met a patient who lacked neither humour nor boldness. "You're a big bugger, aren't you?" he said blankly, just after shaking his hand. And Prince William does not lack repartee. "I have heels," William replied-for-tat, smiling.

Also present, the patient's wife then spoke of her gratitude for the British health system (NHS) which took care of her husband for ten years. The man then added, in the direction of the hospital staff: "Do you see the people there? They're ugly, but they're good," which made Prince William laugh.

Visibly in a teasing mood, this patient like no other once again diverted the conversation too serious for his taste: "And your wife, she is not bad. And kind. Prince William laughed, adding: "He's a talker. The nurses are watching you. »

In his mother's footsteps

Prince William's visit to the new cancer care centre is part of his role as chairman of the Royal Marsden, a title previously held by his mother, Princess Diana.

The team of the future King of England posted a message on social media with photos of Thursday's visit. "After many years of hard work by de@royalmarsdenNHS and de@royalmarsden, we were pleased to see the Oak Cancer Centre open its doors today. This new state-of-the-art research and treatment centre will bring patients and researchers together under one roof to provide the best possible care and outcomes for cancer patients, not only at the Royal Marsden, but around the world. Thank you to everyone who helped make this incredible centre a reality. »
