If his identity still remains a mystery, his works are known all over the world. Since the 1990s, Banksy, a true legend of street art, never ceases to surprise the planet with his murals imbued with humanism. From Saturday, the Brest public will be able to savor the talent of the artist with the free exhibition "Banksy Modeste Collection" which will be presented until June 25 at the Ateliers des Capucins.

A travelling exhibition that has already stopped in Grigny, Montpellier, Sète, Roubaix, Marseille and Libourne and has attracted nearly 100,000 visitors in two years. "It's a great success," says François Berardino, alias Béru, an actor and collector who has collected hundreds of objects around the world for 17 years.

Donations collected for the benefit of associations

In Brest, some 280 works (posters, silkscreens, record covers, posters, T-shirts, photos and even soap) will be exhibited in two large rooms at the Capucins. Recent additions include a photo of the graffiti artist's mural, in which a young judoka carpets an adult man, an allegory of Ukraine beating Russia, painted on a ruined building near Kiev.

The "Banksy Modeste Collection" is also a solidarity event to collect donations for the benefit of local associations. From 120 euros donation, visitors will be able to leave with an original silkscreen, created by Béru inspired by Banksy's works. About 142,000 euros have already been redistributed to SOS Méditerranée, Secours populaire and the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul society.
