Blackmail and extortion, illegal possession of weapons - some of them of war - crimes aggravated by the mafia method. But also spending for the most needy families during the period of Covid restrictions.

This is what came to light in the investigation of the investigative unit of the carabinieri of Castello di Cisterna, province of Naples, which led to the arrest of 20 alleged Camorra.

The criminal organization, linked to the Gallo - Angelino clan, active in Caivano and surroundings from November 2019 to May 2020, would have operated, according to what emerged from the investigations of the military of the Arma who also resumed their movements, through systematic extortion requests against building contractors and traders in the area.

The gang would have availed itself of a large availability of weapons, many of which were cleverly hidden underground or between the cavities of some buildings. Video surveillance systems were also discovered, hidden in the walls of the buildings.

But the control of the territory would also have been achieved through apparently legitimate activities, aimed at rescuing economically already fragile subjects and most weakened by the pandemic period by the Covid 19 emergency. A form of "interested support" towards needy young people who had lost their jobs in already depressed social realities. In particular, in the period of the total blockade of activities, a real "food distribution desk" would have been organized to the needy families of Caivano.

All this would have ensured the criminal group supremacy over other Camorra organizations in the area.
