President Bashar al-Assad believes that Lebanon's strength is in its political and economic stability, and that the Lebanese are able to achieve this stability through dialogue, consensus and most importantly by adhering to principles and not betting on changes, and also pointing out that Lebanon's stability is for the benefit of Syria and the region in general, President Assad's words came during his meeting today with former Lebanese President Michel Aoun.

President al-Assad said that General Aoun had a role in maintaining the brotherly relationship between Syria and Lebanon for the good of both countries. President al-Assad expressed his confidence in the ability of the Lebanese to overcome all problems and challenges, and to consolidate the role of their national and constitutional institutions.

President al-Assad considered that Syria and Lebanon cannot view their challenges separately from each other, noting that the Arab-Arab rapprochement that took place recently and appeared at the Jeddah Arab Summit will have a positive impact on Syria and Lebanon.

General Aoun said that the Lebanese are committed to their national unity despite everything, and considered that Syria has overcome the difficult and dangerous stage thanks to the awareness of its people and their faith in their country, army and leadership, stressing that the rise and prosperity of Syria will reflect well on Lebanon and the Lebanese.
