• "Transformers, Rise of the Beasts" is the seventh installment in the "Transformers" saga.
  • The discovery of a mysterious key puts human heroes and robots at risk.
  • These adventures will take them to Peru where new creatures await them.

If anyone is familiar with the "Transformers" saga, it's Lorenzo Di Bonaventura. This producer was already present for the first opus directed in 2007 by Michael Bay. He's still there for Rise of the Beasts, the seventh installment in the franchise, directed by Steven Caple Jr. "The Transformers like it because they give a personality to vehicles," he told 20 Minutes. We attach ourselves to them because they defend honourable values while reminiscent of both parents' cars and children's toys. »

This playful side is still present in Rise of the Beasts but the stakes are always higher for a handful of human beings and for star robots like Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and Mirage, luxury car briefly seen in the third part that takes a prominent place in this new plot. A mysterious key that can either destroy Earth or allow the Autobots to return home, will trigger a fratricidal war from New York to Peru.

"You always have to go further to seduce the fans," says Lorenzo Di Bonaventura. I sometimes feel like a big kid who has fun making stunts and special effects ever more spectacular possible. Incredible car chases are always on the program, but the most impressive element of the film is the appearance of new creatures: the "Maximals" or "Animutants". A mixture of mechanics and animals, they are particularly successful. "It was a real challenge to make hair and metal realistic on the same creature," says the producer. This proves that you can now get anything you want on screen as long as you spend enough time and money on it. »

Lorenzo Di Bonaventura has clearly been generous on both fronts which brings a new breath to the universe of Transformers. Optimus Primal, imposing gorilla and Airrazor, majestic falcon voiced by Dorothée in the French version, are the most endearing of the newcomers. "This is the secret of our longevity," says the producer. We always try to bring surprising elements while keeping the heroes that the audience loves. Bolt on robots, French spectators are also spoiled with a theme song composed by MC Solaar.
