A 35-year-old man was killed in a police operation in Ingolstadt, Upper Bavaria, on Monday. As the police headquarters of Upper Bavaria North announced, the man was in an "exceptional psychological situation" and initially attacked the forces "abruptly", whereupon they made use of the firearm.

Despite immediate medical treatment, the man died shortly afterwards from his injuries.

According to police, the emergency services had been alerted to the man on Monday morning and found him shortly afterwards south of the refinery in Ingolstadt.
