After the bob and the low-waisted pants, it is now the turn of the pantacourt to make his comeback ... Created in the late 1940s by stylist Sonja de Lennart, the pantacourt was popularized by Brigitte Bardot in the 1950s and 60s, but it fell into oblivion, to make way for the famous skinny and slim. The story could have ended there, if the biggest luxury houses had not decided to introduce the pantacourt on the catwalks of the last Fashion Weeks.

The pantacourt seduces the stars

As early as 2021, the pantacourt attempted a first foray on the shapely legs of Lily-Rose Depp and Emily Ratajkowski, but without really succeeding in restoring its image. But in recent months, his appearances have multiplied in the street, as on social networks, and even on the catwalks, to the point of thinking that he could establish himself as one of the essential pieces of the summer. With a head start, Bella Hadid, Jennifer Lawrence, Lena Situations, and Meghan Markle, are among those who have already been seduced by this vestige of the past, and in view of the last shows, it seems that they will soon not be the only ones. Especially since these pants cut mid-calf is already unanimous on social networks, with already no less than six million views for the hashtag #capripants on TikTok, and hundreds of looks and variations to the key.

The pantacourt is making its place in haute couture

From the autumn-winter 2022-2023 season, the Italian house Gucci has presented a series of pants that has not gone unnoticed, whether they come from its own collection or the one designed in collaboration with Adidas. Slightly loose printed models worn with boots for a more modern silhouette, whether for women or men. But the luxury brand is not the only one to have introduced the privateer in its collections. Jacquemus also made the pantacourt one of his star pieces. Available in denim, with polka dots, and other prints, this icon of the 2000s has made a place for itself in the spring-summer 2023 collection of the French designer.

And the trend is still in its infancy if we consider that the pantacourt has already established itself in several collections for the autumn-winter 2023 season, including that of the house Versace.
