A man in his 20s who brutally abused a cat has been sent to the prosecutor's office, and a petition calling for strict punishment for the abuser has surpassed 1,26 signatures in three days.

Earlier, on the 20th, the Jinju Police Station in Gyeongnam Province sent Mr. A, a man in his 2019s, to the prosecutor's office for non-detention on suspicion of filming a video of cat abuse and posting it on the Internet (animal cruelty).

Mr. A is accused of filming three videos of abusing cats in Jinju and Incheon in 11 and around November last year and posting them on YouTube.

He revealed how he abused cats in brutal ways, including biting electric wires into their mouths, throwing them into streams to drown them, and stabbing them to death with tree branches.

Even while posting such a video, Mr. A had the audacity to introduce himself as a "cat rescuer" on social media.

Mr. A's behavior came to light when the animal organization that saw the video reported it to the police.

According to the animal rights group CARE, "Mr. A, a former electrical engineering student, used electricity to brutally kill (the cat) even though he knew very well how dangerous electricity was," and "deliberately reversed the sequence of the videos to portray it as if he was finding and saving a cat that was being electrocuted."

"He pretended to love animals, took pictures and lived happily in society, researching how he could inflict more cruel pain on animals, and how he could hide his actions and show people the suffering of animals and increase the number of views."

Currently, the number of petition signatures calling for Mr. A's strict punishment has exceeded the original target of 3,1 in three days, and has exceeded 31,1 as of the 3600st.

"CARE will go to the Jinju Prosecutor's Office on June 6 to submit more than 1,1 petition signatures and hold a press conference to call for a strong investigation and punishment."

A police official said, "The suspect admitted to the crime but did not answer the motive," adding, "We will take strict action against the cruel cruelty of animals like this one."

The people who joined the petition also expressed their anger, saying, "Show us that all lives weigh the same," "Terrible acts against animals will surely lead to crimes against humans," "Please do your best to prevent a recurrence," and "This is the devil who torments the weak who do not know the sanctity of life."

On the other hand, if you abuse a stray cat, you will be punished with imprisonment for up to 3 years or a fine of up to 3000 million won.
