The Chartres prosecutor's office seeks "to understand the conditions in which this triple aggravated homicide may have been committed." The man suspected of killing his ex-wife and their two children, found dead Thursday in Dreux (Eure-et-Loir), was indicted for "aggravated voluntary homicide" and placed in provisional detention, announced Monday the prosecutor of the Republic of Chartres.

The ex-spouse of 46 years on the run was arrested in the Yvelines Saturday, and denies the facts before investigators. Indicted Monday night "counts of aggravated voluntary homicide of the woman and her two children" the main defendant "continued to deny any participation in these facts by indicating that he was the victim of a conspiracy," said prosecutor Frédéric Chevallier in a statement.

Attempted autostrangulation

Since his arrest in Plaisir (Yvelines) in a telephone shop, this man "denies any involvement" in the criminal facts on which he is questioned, said Sunday the prosecutor's office in a statement. Referred Sunday to Chartres, the forty-year-old caused an unexpected incident in court by trying to "self-strangular" before his passage before the judge of freedoms and detention (JLD), explained Frédéric Chevallier. Placed under observation for a few hours in a hospital in Coudray, near Chartres, where he was to see a psychiatrist, the forty-year-old was able to return in the evening to the judicial court to be presented to the JLD.

"From now on, the criminal investigation will continue under the direction of the investigating judge who will conduct any useful investigation to understand the conditions in which this triple aggravated homicide could have been committed and to better understand the contours of the personality of the accused," explained the prosecutor of Chartres. Autopsies of the three bodies are scheduled for Tuesday.
