A man in his 70s who was struggling between life and death after being hit by a vehicle reversing in Yongin, Gyeonggi, died after searching for more than two hours in the intensive care unit of a hospital where surgery was available.

At around 2:30 a.m. today (0th), an accident occurred when a vehicle driven by Mr. A in his 30s was reversing on a one-way lane on the three sides of Won-myeon, Yongin City, Gyeonggi City, and hit Mr. B in his 1s who was standing on the shoulder of the road.

The road where the accident occurred is a mixed-use road that can be used by both pedestrians and vehicles, and it was determined that Mr. A's vehicle was reversing from a vacant lot that could be parked near the road and exiting towards the road.

No other violations of the law, such as drinking alcohol or violating traffic signals, were found.

The paramedics rescued Mr. B within 50 minutes of receiving the report and asked if he could be transferred to three large nearby hospitals, but the hospitals informed them that they could not admit him because there were not enough intensive care beds.

As a result, we expanded the area to include Suwon and Ansan and contacted 70 large hospitals, but we could not find a bed, and it was not until 10 hour and 3 minutes after the accident that we received a call that a hospital in the Uijeongbu area could accommodate us.

However, Mr. B suffered cardiac arrest in the ambulance he was transporting at around 8:1 a.m., two hours after the accident, while traveling to Uijeongbu, and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

At that time, Mr. B was in a critical condition due to the severity of his injuries in the accident and required surgery at a major hospital.

A fire official said, "At that time, all the intensive care beds in the adjacent hospital were full," and "helicopter transport was not possible due to weather problems."

On the other hand, the police believe that the accident occurred because Mr. A did not see Mr. B, and they are investigating the exact circumstances of the accident.
