China announced today the start of drilling China's first well with a depth of more than ten thousand meters for scientific exploration in the Tarim Basin of the northwestern region of Xinjiang.

The well is located in the remote areas of China's largest desert Taklimkan Desert, and during the drilling process, the equipment will penetrate deep into the ground, penetrating more than 10 continental layers, including the Cretaceous system, marking China's exploration of the Earth's depths and providing an unprecedented opportunity to study the planet's deep underground, Xinhua reported.

Technical expert Wang Chunsheng explained that drilling a well with a depth of more than 10,<> meters is a bold attempt to explore the unknown region of Earth and expand the boundaries of human cognition.
