A man in his 70s was found dead in a cistern in the basement of an apartment building in Seoul, prompting police to investigate.

Police believe the man's son is the prime suspect and have recruited him to investigate the crime.

The Jungrang Police Station in Seoul has urgently arrested the victim's son, thirty-year-old Kim Mo, on suspicion of murder today (29th) morning and is investigating.

According to police, Kim is suspected of murdering his 5-year-old father with a knife and abandoning him in a cistern in the basement of the apartment building in Myeongmok-dong, Junglang-gu, Seoul, where he lives with his parents.

Police found his father's body in a cistern in the machine room in the underground parking lot at around 70:0 a.m. today, East Sea a resident reported that "there was a blood stain that appeared to have been dragged into the underground parking lot."

Police arrested Mr. Kim at around 48:2 a.m. based on the fact that blood stains were connected from the cistern on the second basement floor to Mr. Kim's house on the fifth floor of the apartment, and that Mr. Kim was recorded on closed-circuit (CC) TV dragging the body along.

A weapon believed to have been used in the crime was found in Kim's room.

Kim, however, denies the allegations, saying the police "did not murder my father."

The police plan to investigate the family's behavior before and after the incident and also check Kim's medical records to determine the circumstances and motive of the crime before applying for an arrest warrant.
